Art and technology shape how we understand the world. Art turns experience into story. Technology turns challenges into possibility. Obsidian Law Group exists for the people and companies doing both: storytelling that connects us and the builders making everyday life easier.

Growing up, I loved everything about music and film. The way a song or scene could place you in someone else’s world, and in doing so, help you better understand your own. Just as compelling to me was the technology that made those experiences possible: videotapes, cassettes, televisions, CDs, DVDs, mp3 players, smartphones, and now streaming platforms. Each new medium carried stories further than before, but also made storytelling more easily accessible.

Those passions led me to major in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management. If I was not born with the brain of a Stevie Wonder or Steve Jobs, I could certainly help people who wanted to emulate that kind of impact. Eventually, I launched a record label, built a brand consultancy, and worked in global marketing within the tech industry. Whether I was in the studio at 2AM with a musician, or helping to launch a creative business venture, I learned what it takes to move an idea from instinct to execution.

But in my early career I grew frustrated. Too often momentum stalled because of a legal technicality, a business objection, or a gap between the creative vision and the teams responsible for protecting it. That frustration led me to pursue my JD/MBA. I wanted to understand how law and business could help get ideas off the ground instead of standing in their way. That dual-degree program landed me at one of the Big Three record labels, and eventually other industry leading media companies and law firms. I did some groundbreaking deals that I remain proud of to this day. However, I encountered the same hurdles as before: ideas failing because of unclear contracts, financial statements, and siloed teams. I understood how law, business, and corporate strategy could work together, but too many environments treated them as independent lanes. So, I created Obsidian Law Group for people and companies that appreciate that they are strongest when they move together cohesively.

We are here to protect mindful storytelling and to support builders making our lives a bit easier by building something anew. The ideas that stand the test of time are interdisciplinary. And interdisciplinary ideas mold and shift culture and the world. That is why I call us cultural architects. We help turn vision into structure, and structure into impact.
